Lake Taupo Foreshore | Start in the middle of Taupo township and head out towards 2 Mile Bay | 1 - 3 hours | 10km one way Start in the middle of Taupo township and head out along the fioreshore towards 2 Mile Bay. This is a great family friendly ride that will suit all abilities with great photo opportunities along the way. Turn around and head back into town after stopping at some lovely cafes along the way!

Rotary Trails - Huka Falls Loop | Scenic ride to Huka Falls and onto Aratiatia Dam | 3 - 4 Hours | 23km Loop Several great trails either side of the Waikato River make this area great keen adventurers, with the majority being family friendly. The most popular trail is the Rotary Ride to Huka Falls, however, you can also link with the track down the valley to Aratiatia Dam, as well as branching off to the Craters of the Moon MTB park.

Huka Falls Cycle Trail - Aratiatia Falls Loop | A loop trail from Huka Falls down to the spectacular Aratiatia rapids and back along the opposite side of the river. | 2.5 - 3.5 hours | Start in Taupo township or at the Huka Falls This level and well maintained grade 2 shared use path (cycle, walking, running, dogs, children) is a fantastic way to explore the river, scenery and various look out points between the Huka Falls and the spectacular Aratiatia Rapids. Time your ride right to view the Aratiatia Dam release its water every day at 10:00, midday and 14:00 (also at 16:00 in the summer months).

The trail descends on true river right, then returns after crossing the Aratiatia Dam back up along the true river left river bank, and is suitable for all ages and skill levels being a nice wide path with some inclines and sharper bends around the Huka Falls section. Keep an eye out for the steaming streams as you bike back towards Huka Falls, they are well worth a stop and photo opportunity!

You can start at the end of Spa Rd on County Road at the Spa Thermal Park (only 4km to Huka Falls) or you can start at Huka Falls, just remember to push your bike through the people!
