  • Accessible from town

DETAILS

Sitting above the Wanaka township on the point above the Clutha River Outlet lays some of the best mountain bike trails. Easily accessible from town and with trail grades starting in the low 3's all the way up to big jumps and scary steep trails there is something for everyone. Get a map from any of the local bike shops and take this with you, its an easy park to get around once you know where you are going, the map will head you in the right direction to begin.

To get to the trails head out toward Becon Point, head into the subdivision and find the street; Platinum Ridge at the end of which is the car park for the forest and the start of the up hill trail. From the top of the up hill there is more uphill or you head along to the double gates, the path that leads through these gates is the main thoroughfare for the park with the majority of the trails starting from this track or heading back up and finishing on it.

Most trails have a name and a grade with a direction stating uphill or downhill, if in doubt ask one of the many locals you'll come across. There are many suitable grade 3 trails accessible for the whole family to go down, with great uphill trails such as cranking pine, the tunnel of love and elevator to get you back to the top.

Please be aware that there are many jump trails, please look at these trails prior to attempting to ride them as most jumps are doubles (ie: not able to be ridden over without jumping).
